Signal to Noise - Poem

This seemed apropos if nothing given that the world is more connected than ever with so many possibilities and so many competing to be the one to take on those possibilities. There's a lot of 'noise' to contend with in so many wanting to be heard, seen, and recognized.

Signal to Noise

"Can you hear me?"
they all cried out at once.
"I've tweeted and blogged,
shared and liked and even put it up on YouTube."

There's too much noise and
flashes and  ads, pop-ups, surveys,
and links to explore.
I can't help it, I get lost indoors.

Look here! Look here!
and off I go. Chasing thoughts
and dreams and promises aplenty.

"Can you hear me now?"
Amid the electronic din
and crackle and hiss and
ding, and click... Still lost
and my voice is fading fast.

It's too much to shout
with so many shouting.
They've tweeted and blogged,
shared and liked, and
even put it up on YouTube.

Perhaps we'll soon all go deaf.
